Travis Kelce is speaking out for the first time after he and Taylor Swift announced their engagement.
During Wednesday’s episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Travis first thanked everyone for sending their congratulations and for expressing their excitement over the news.
“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” Travis said.
Swift and Kelce recently made their first public outing as an engaged couple at the Cincinnati-Nebraska football game. Their appearance marked a milestone for Kelce as he shared that it was the first time he introduced Swift as his fiancée.
“It was my first time introducing Taylor as my fiancée to a few of my teammates. It was pretty cool,” he said also adding that he got “giddy” saying it and still gets that way. “It’s exciting times. It’s still fresh.”
When Jason asked if Travis had any proposal advice to share, Travis said to simply “know your partner.”
“You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way. Know your partner. Know who you’re doing it for and do it for the right reasons. Everything else will be beautiful,” he said.
Last Tuesday, Swift took to Instagram to share the news of their engagement. In a collection of photos, Kelce is shown getting on one knee in a rose garden with others showing the couple embracing as Swift wore her diamond engagement ring.
The happy couple captioned photos of their engagement: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The post quickly broke Instagram records after Meta revealed that the post has surpassed 1 million reposts on the social media website. The engagement on the post is more than any other post has received on the social media website, according to data obtained by Billboard. Not only did their joint post earn the most amount of reposts ever, but they also managed to achieve the record in just six hours after the announcement was shared.
The post earned 14 million likes just one hour after it was shared and has 36 million likes at the time of this story’s publication.
Their engagement quickly followed Swift’s appearance on a special episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast in which the singer-songwriter announced her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl and reflected on her relationship with Travis.
Kelce and Swift have been romantically linked since the late summer of 2023, with their relationship going public in September of that year after Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs football game.
