US President Donald Trump is escalating his “maximum pressure” campaign against the socialist government of Venezuela with the deployment of warships, aircraft and troops to the southern Caribbean. On Sep. 2, as part of this campaign to counter Latin American drug cartel activity, US forces struck a purported drug trafficking vessel coming from Venezuela. According to Trump, the strike killed 11 “terrorists” on board.
