Top Maoist Madvi Hidma killed in encounter in Andhra Pradesh

As per reports, the top Maoist leader was gunned down in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharamaraju district.

Maoist leader Madvi Hidma, who is responsible for leading at least 26 armed attacks against security forces and civilians, has been killed after an encounter with police on Tuesday.

As per reports, the top Maoist leader was gunned down in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharamaraju district.

Born in 1981 in Sukma, Hidma led a battalion of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army in 1996. Soon after, Hidma became the youngest member of the Central Committee, which is the CPI Maoist’s top decision-making body.

The Maoist leader was also the prime suspect in an attack where 22 security personnel were killed in April 2021 in Chhattisgarh.

Hidma carried a bounty of 50 Lakh. As per reports, his wife was also killed in the encounter.

One Maoist killed in Sukma

Meanwhile, in another encounter, a Maoist was killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Tuesday.

Police officials told HT that the exchange of fire began in the morning on a forested hill when a team of security personnel launched an anti-Maoist operation.

“So far, the body of one Maoist has been recovered from the spot. The operation is still under way and further details will be shared once the area is fully sanitised,” Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sunderraj P said told HT.
