Jimmy Kimmel had Stephen Colbert’s back when CBS announced it was ending The Late Show. On Thursday, Colbert returned the favor.
Citing a Rolling Stone report, Colbert read aloud that “some ABC executives were pissing themselves all day. On the bright side, that proves it’s number one in streaming.”
With “pissing themselves” as the setup, ”number one” and “streaming” gave Colbert a rare two-punchlines-in-one joke.

Colbert then directly addressed FCC chair Brendan Carr’s tweet on Wednesday praising local broadcasters for preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, pushing back on Disney programming that “they determine falls short of community values.”
“You know what my community values are, buster?” Colbert said the following evening. “Freedom of speech.”
Cue raucous applause from the Ed Sullivan Theater audience.
On Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode, Kimmel implied that Charlie Kirk’s alleged murderer, Tyler Robinson, is “one of them,” referring to MAGA Republicans.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during the monologue.
That perceived mischaracterization of Robinson’s political leanings has those on the right, including President Trump, fuming.
More to come.
