Pamela Anderson will be honored with a career achievement tribute at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival.
The actor, whose latest film, Paramount’s “Naked Gun” reboot (in which she stars opposite Liam Neeson) is currently in theaters, will receive the Deauville Talent Award on opening night of the festival, on Sept. 5. She will succeed to previous Deauville honorees including Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams, as well as Michael Douglas.
Since her critically acclaimed acting comeback in “The Last Showgirl” last year, Anderson has been lining up buzzy projects with renowned international auteurs. She’ll next be seen in “Rosebush Pruning” by Karim Aïnouz, “Place to Be” by Kornél Mundruczó, “Alma” by Sally Potter, and “Love Is Not the Answer,” Michael Cera’s feature debut.
Anderson will be celebrated for combining “her work as an actress with a passionate commitment to philanthropy and advocacy, leaving a lasting mark on the cultural imagination,” stated the festival.
Deauville will also pay tribute to Kim Novak, the legendary “Vertigo” star. Novak receive the Honorary Award on Sept. 6 during a ceremony which will be followed by the screening of Alexandre O. Philippe’s documentary “Kim Novak’s Vertigo.” Many of Novak’s cult films will screen at the festival as part of the tribute, notably Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” and Otto Preminger’s “The Man With the Golden Arm.” Novak will also be honored at the Venice Film Festival.
Kristen Stewart, meanwhile, will attend Deauville to present her directorial debut “Chronology of Water,” and will be given “carte blanche” by the festival to present her favorite films. Stewart will also take part in a conversation at an event organized with the support of Chanel.
Deauville has also managed to lure a number of anticipated movies for its lineup of premieres, including Oliver Hermanus’s “The History of Sound,” Kelly Reichardt’s “The Mastermind,” Yórgos Lánthimos’s “Bugonia” and Richard Linklater’s “Nouvelle Vague.”
As previously announced, Deauville will also honor “Nouvelle Vague” star Zoey Deutch with its Hollywood Rising Star Award and will host a special screening of Joachim Trier’s Cannes Grand Prix winner “Sentimental Value.”
The 51st Deauville American Film Festival runs from September 5 – 14. “Alpha” star Golshifteh Farahani will serve as jury president.
