Thanks to his new album, Clarity of Mind, Omah Lay scores a personal-best 12 simultaneous tracks on the 50-position Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart (dated April 18). The multimetric chart ranks songs by a formula blending streaming and sales performance in the United States.
“I Am” leads the dozen appearances with a No. 5 debut. The track was the most streamed song from Clarity of Mind in the corresponding tracking week of April 3-9, with 626,000 official U.S. streams, according to Luminate.
Omah Lay lands three more tracks in the top 10: Previous releases “Waist” and “Don’t Love Me,” which both peaked at No. 6, are back in the region. The former rolls 14-8, while the latter improves 18-9. In addition, “Artificial Happiness” debuts at No. 10. With “I Am” and “Artificial Happiness,” the 28-year-old Nigerian singer-songwriter collects his seventh and eighth top 10s on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
All told, Omah Lay’s count of 12 concurrent appearances doubles his previous best weekly sum, from the chart dated Jan. 28, 2023.
Clarity of Mind, released on The KeyQaad/Sire/Warner, opens with 4,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the April 3-9 tracking week. The set launches at No. 8 on World Albums, becoming Omah Lay’s first top 10. His sole other entry there, Boy Alone, debuted and peaked at No. 12 in July 2022.
