Musicares Taps Theresa Wolters as Executive Director

Music charity MusiCares has appointed Theresa Wolters as its new executive director. Wolters, who has served as MusiCares’ vice president of health and human services since 2022, brings more than two decades of global health and humanitarian leadership to the role. After stepping in as interim executive director in 2025, she now formally leads MusiCares.

“Theresa embodies the spirit of MusiCares. She approaches her work with empathy and clarity, and she strengthens every story with facts that show why our work matters,” said Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares. “Her leadership ensures that music professionals will continue to have access to the care and support they need — recognizing that financial struggles, health concerns and mental health challenges are often deeply connected.”

At MusiCares, Wolters has been at the forefront of addressing the unique health, mental health, addiction recovery, and human service needs of music professionals. She is recognized for her ability to connect the lived experiences of music professionals with data that highlights both the urgency of these challenges and the impact of MusiCares’ response.

“Every day, MusiCares has a life-changing, and often lifesaving, impact on music professionals. For 35 years, MusiCares has been driven by compassion and a relentless focus on solving the big challenges facing our community. I am truly privileged to work alongside such an outstanding team of committed professionals and know MusiCares will continually rise to meet the needs of those we serve,” said Wolters.

+ Tony Harlow will be stepping down from his position as CEO of Warner Music UK at the end of October.

In a statement issued earlier today to Warner Music UK staff obtained by Variety, Harlow said:

“I want to be clear, I’m only making this announcement now after thinking long and hard about our team and what needs done for the UK to lead the world again. I’ve realised that my departure would create new long-term opportunities and space for our amazing senior management team to continue to grow as individuals and as leaders.”

In a message from WMG CEO Robert Kyncl, the CEO of Warner Music Group thanked Harlow for his contributions. “Tony’s impact over his 15 years at Warner Music Group has been immense,” he said. “In three very different roles…CEO of Warner Music UK, President of WEA, and MD for WM Australasia…he has delivered fantastic results. Throughout, his passion for artists, belief in our teams, and determination to innovate have been the hallmarks of his approach… Tony is announcing his decision now, when it helps provide new possibilities for the talented leadership team he’s mentored. He’s successfully positioned the company for long-term success, and I deeply appreciate his commitment to seeing through the transition as we navigate ongoing change.”

Kyncl said of future plans, “[WMG President, International] Simon Robson and I will have more to share on our plans for the UK this week. But in the meantime, on behalf of everyone at the company, I thank Tony for his extraordinary contributions, and wish him the absolute best.”

+ Vocalist and songwriter Emily Ann Roberts has signed with Records/Sony Music Nashville, the labels announced today. Her new track and first release at her new label home, “Jack and Jill Daniel’s,” will be released Sept. 5.

“They say Nashville is a 10-year town, and that would add up since I got into the music business back in 2015. While this is a massive accomplishment, I know this is just the beginning,” shared Roberts. “I’m excited to get to partner with Records/Sony Music Nashville and I can’t wait to see all we accomplish together.”

Roberts’ journey began as a standout on Blake Shelton’s team on “The Voice” with a runner-up finish, a remarkable achievement even before graduating high school. Since then, Roberts has amassed nearly 75 million global streams.

She is represented by Starstruck Entertainment and UTA with publishing by Jody Williams Songs.
