“Lupin” creator George Kay has set his next project at Netflix with Swedish crime series “The Case.”
Created and written by Kay, “The Case” stars Jakob Oftebro and Peter Andersson (pictured above) as a father-son detective duo who must come together to catch a serial killer. The five-episode series is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm.
“As endless summer takes its hold over Stockholm, a different kind of darkness sets in. Clean cut, highly regarded lead investigator Thomas Berg has a serial killer on his hands,” the show’s synopsis reads. “With the brutal murderer targeting his police colleagues, Thomas makes a desperate gamble, turning to a once well-regarded but now out of favor, misanthropic ex-detective for help. His estranged father, Alfred. If they’re to stand any chance of protecting their fellow police officers, they must put their differences aside and find a way to work together. Only then will they catch one of the worst killers in Sweden’s history.”
“The Case” also stars Electra Hallman, Alexander Abdallah, Henrik Norlén, Lisette T. Pagler, Magnus Krepper, Irina Björklund, Anders Mossling and Anna Maria Käll. A B-Reel Films and Observatory Pictures production in association with New Pictures, “The Case” recently wrapped filming in Stockholm and is targeting a global launch on Netflix next year.
“I’m thrilled to be working on ‘The Case’ with the Nordic Netflix team, New Pictures and B-Reel Films — the best possible partners in crime,” Kay said in a statement. “They have assembled a wonderful cast and crew, all under the leadership of director Kristoffer Nyholm. ‘The Case’ is part father-son love story, part criminal thriller. A series that brings darkness… even to the endless Stockholm Summer.”
“The Case” is produced by Johannes Åhlund and Ulf Synnerholm for B-Reel Films and executive produced by Kay, Nyholm, Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford. Other writers include Aron Levander, who helmed the Swedish adaptation, and Emilie Robson.
