The Legal Defense Fund will honor Delroy Lindo, Gabrielle Kirk McDonald and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at its 38th National Equal Justice Awards Dinner on May 14 in New York City.
The annual event, known as NEJAD, will be hosted by Leslie Odom Jr. and feature performances by Samara Joy and Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer. The ceremony recognizes leaders in law, entertainment, philanthropy and activism whose work advances racial justice and equality.
Lindo will receive the Spirit of Justice Award, McDonald will be honored with the Thurgood Lifetime Achievement Award and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will receive the National Equal Justice Award.
“Receiving the Spirit of Justice Award from LDF is a profound honor — one that I do not take lightly, especially in this moment. We are living in a time that challenges all of us, and I believe deeply that each of us has a mandate to define what progress looks like and to commit ourselves to that work,” Lindo said in a statement. “LDF has embodied that commitment for generations, and I am humbled to stand alongside an organization that has never wavered in its pursuit of justice and equality.”
