High Potential fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for the show’s season three premiere as ABC won’t be bringing the Kaitlin Olson-starring procedural back until next year.
The drama’s delay was confirmed May 12 as the network announced its fall 2026 TV lineup—during which it was not among other fan-favorites like Scrubs, Abbott Elementary 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy.
As for why ABC decided to keep High Potential, which concluded its second season in April, on hiatus until midseason?
“What we’ve seen the last several years, and we’ve really proven this out with Will Trent and The Rookie back in midseason of ’24 and ’25,” ABC’s SVP of Content Strategy and Scheduling Ari Goldman explained during the May 12 presentation, “is we want to give viewers a chance to watch these shows with as little interruption as possible across the season.”
