Andrew Mittman and his 1.21 production banner have renewed their overall deal with MGM Television, Variety has learned exclusively. Kai Dolbashian serves as head of development for the company.
News of the renewal comes not long after the successful launch of “Wednesday” Season 2, Part 2 at Netflix, with Mittman serving as an executive producer on the highly popular series, which MGM Television produces. The show has already been renewed for a third season.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the renewal of our deal with Andrew Mittman and his brilliant team at 1.21,” said Lindsay Sloane, head of MGM U.S. Scripted Television for Amazon MGM Studios. “Our collaboration with 1.21 over the past five years has been truly rewarding, delivering massive global successes like the second season of ‘Wednesday.’ We can’t wait to see what the future holds as we continue to build on our already strong creative relationship.”
Other recent 1.21 projects include the Neon horror film “Together” starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie, while the company is also at work on the series “El Gato Negro” for Amazon. 1.21 is also at work on a limited series adaptation of “Dial M for Murder” and the feature remake of “Attack of the 50ft Woman” at Warner Bros.
“We’re so grateful to Lindsay Sloane, Max Kisbye, and the entire team at MGM Television,” Mittman and Dolbashian said. “In a business where it can be hard to hold onto intention, MGM has been a rare refuge—defined by taste, candor, and real passion in the creative process. They are our family, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their partnership. We’re energized for what’s ahead.”
