Toyota’s $15K EV surpasses 80,000 deliveries in China in one year

Toyota’s K EV surpasses 80,000 deliveries in China in one year

The bZ3X, Toyota’s fully electric SUV, is a hit in China. After delivering over 80,000 units in its first year on the market, the bZ3X has now remained the best-selling EV from a joint venture in China for 7 months straight.

Toyota bZ3X EV deliveries top 80,000 in one year

After launching the Bozhi 3X, or bZ3X for short, last March, Toyota’s joint venture in China, GAC-Toyota, claimed the electric SUV was “so popular that the server crashed.”

A year later, it’s still a hit despite a wave of low-cost domestic rivals flooding the market. GAC-Toyota announced last month that bZ3X deliveries surpassed 80,000 in its first year.

From September 2025 through March 2026, the electric SUV held the top sales position among joint-venture new-energy vehicles, including EVs and PHEVs. It’s now sold over 89,000 bZ3X models in China.

The bZ3X is Toyota’s “first 100,000 yuan-level pure electric SUV,” priced at just 109,800 yuan (roughly $15,000). For a limited time, GAC Toyota is offering it for as low as 99,800 yuan ($14,500).

It’s available in seven trims, two of which include a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The electric SUV is Toyota’s first model equipped with Momenta 5.0, an end-to-end ADAS system with “self-driving” capabilities.

With a length of 4,645 mm, a width of 1,885 mm, and a height of 1,625 mm, the bZ3X is about the same size as the Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen ID.4, and BYD Yuan Plus (sold as the Atto 3 overseas).

Inside, the electric SUV is a big upgrade over the Toyota vehicles on the road today. The interior features a 14.6″ floating infotainment screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, an 8.8″ driver display, a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, 32-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.

It’s available with two battery pack options: 50.04 kWh and 67.92 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 430 km (267 miles) and 610 km (379 miles), respectively.

While Toyota may launch the bZ3X in overseas markets like Japan, Australia, or the UK, it will (sadly) not be sold in the US since it’s made in China.

However, the company is launching three new electric SUVs this year, covering nearly every segment. No, they won’t cost $15,000, but the 2026 bZ and C-HR are among the most affordable EVs in the US with prices starting at $34,900 and $37,000, respectively.

Toyota is also gaining traction in the US. Through the first three months of 2026, the Toyota bZ was the third-best-selling EV in the US, behind only the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

With the new electric SUVs now at dealerships, Toyota is offering up to $7,000 in customer cash discounts and 0% APR financing to make them more competitive. You can use the links below to find available models in your area.
