And the situation has only grown thornier in the weeks since.
In his restraining order, Mortensen alleged that his former partner was physically abusive toward him during two separate February incidents, per the filing obtained by TMZ.
But ahead of the April 7 hearing, Paul filed her own temporary restraining order alleging Mortensen had a “pattern of abusive conduct and coercive control” throughout their three-year on-again, off-again romance.
And with neither side there to make friends, their lawyers are in agreement that the meet-up will be tense.
“Today’s hearing was used by the respondent to assassinate Dakota’s character as a dad, whose only concern is for the welfare of his son,” Mortensen’s attorney Joel Kittrell said in a statement following the April 7 court date. “We look forward to the 30th to tell the true story.”
Similarly, Paul is ready for her day in court.
“We all know that social media has made up its mind about my client,” said her attorney. “The court, unlike social media, actually has to get it right. The evidence we believe, on the 30th when viewed in its totality, will show who the real abuser is, who the real violent actor has been during the party’s relationship.”
