The U.S. stock market is not doing much, but the real story is unfolding in the bond market where the sell-off has turned painful.
The S&P 500 fell 0.1%, the Dow was down similarly while the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.3%.
Investors might be iffy about playing in the stock market ahead of the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates this afternoon. Most expect the Fed to take rates a notch lower today, and then hold steady until April. But this bet on 2026 is uncertain while there’s also a question about who will lead the Fed next year.
