Casting Riff Raff

In the book, Richard O’Brien, the actor pictured who wrote the Rocky Horror play, says he had originally wanted to play the role of Eddie, which went to Meat Loaf. But then director Jim Sharman talked him into taking Riff Raff. “I think Riff Raff was a perfect role for me to play, being a strange, peculiar, skinny kind of person, it was good casting,” he’s quoted as saying.
