Two people have been found dead in the Brentwood home of “The Princess Bride” and “This is Spinal Tap” director Rob Reiner, Variety has confirmed.
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department official, the deceased were a man and a woman, aged 78 and 68 years old. Authorities arrived at the residence on Sunday afternoon.
Reiner is a major filmmaker who comes from a storied Hollywood family. His father was comedian Carl Reiner. Reiner’s films include such classics as “Stand By Me,” “When Harry Met Sally…” and “The American President. A prominent progressive voice in the Hollywood community, Reiner is active in several California ballot initiatives.
Reiner also starred as Michael “Meathead” Stivic, hippie son-in-law of Carroll O’Connor’s bigoted, blustering blue-collar worker Archie Bunker, during nine seasons of “All in the Family.”
His wife, Michele Singer, was at one time a photographer who shot Donald Trump’s photo for the cover of “The Art of the Deal. The couple have three children — Jake, Nick and Romy. He is the adoptive father of actress Tracy Reiner, the daughter of his first wife, the late actress and director Penny Marshall.
