Pierluigi Gazzolo, one of the key players of largest experience in Latin America’s new OTT transformation whether at ViacomCBS or TelevisaUnivision’s ViX, has been appointed to the board of directors of Spanish powerhouse Secuoya Content Group.

Boasting a 30-year track record leading robust expansion at top companies, in his most recent role as CEO of TelevisaUnivision’s platform ViX, Gazzolo spearheaded its launch and fast growth, positioning it as the world’s largest Spanish-language streamer.

He has also served on the boards of international companies such as Sky Media, Seoul Broadcasting System and Rainbow SRL, contributing strategic insight into partnerships and international expansion.

“The appointment of Pierluigi Gazzolo to the board of directors marks a strategic milestone in a phase of global expansion and evolution for our company,” said Raúl Berdonés, chairman of Secuoya Content Group.

“His extensive experience and leadership in the industry will bring valuable expertise that will strengthen our ability to face challenges and accelerate the achievement of our goals,” Berdonés added.

“Furthermore, his experience in key global markets —such as the U.S. and Latin America— adds a valuable perspective to our ongoing expansion. We appreciate his trust and extend a warm welcome as he joins this project,” Berdonés added.

Gazzolo also played a key role in the digital transformation of ViacomCBS, where he founded its first international streaming division and positioned Paramount+ and Pluto TV as global players. He led both regional and global divisions, expanding the company’s international footprint and spearheading strategic acquisitions such as that of Argentinian free-to-air network Telefe and Brazilian YouTube comedy group Porta dos Fundos.

The executive began his career at MTV Networks Latin America, where he quickly rose to leadership positions. With Gazzolo’s appointment as a board of directors member, Secuoya Content Group reinforces its commitment to excellence in corporate governance and a strategic vision focused on sustainable growth and international expansion, Secuoya said in a statement on Tuesday.

The company employs more than 2,000 full-time staff and operates across four major markets: the U.S., Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Also, Secuoya hosts Netflix’s first European Production Hub at Madrid Content City in Tres Cantos, from which Netflix is leading much of its technological advances in Europe.

Via its arm Secuoya Studios, behind the “Zorro” reboot TV series, the group now aims to develop and produce large-scale projects in English as part of a new international expansion strategy.
