JustWatch, the streaming guide and data-driven entertainment marketing company, has hired MUBI and HBO Max executive Quentin Carbonell for the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy. Carbonell will help develop JustWatch’s future content initiatives and build global partnerships.
Carbonell has over a decade of experience in content acquisition, licensing, and content marketing. As one of the earliest executives at MUBI, Carbonell led global content acquisitions before joining WarnerMedia’s FilmStruck to lead content acquisition, programming, and curation. He later became HBO Max’s Head of Streaming and Content Marketing Planning for EMEA, helping shape the company’s content marketing strategy across multiple launches and major campaigns.
“Following HBO, joining JustWatch is the most exciting evolution – working with a team driven by excellence who built an astonishing product used by tens of millions, constantly innovating for the past decade,” said Carbonell. “Particularly at a time of intense consolidation, I am looking forward to using my global content experience and passion to help shape JustWatch’s future in streaming with its fantastic team.”
JustWatch founder and CEO David Croyé, added, “Quentin loves what he does, and that passion is a big part of why he has been so successful across the industry. His deep understanding of the connection between audiences, rights holders, and platforms has made him an important figure in shaping international content strategies. His energy and perspective will be invaluable as we explore new content initiatives and the partnerships that will shape our next chapter at JustWatch.”
Carbonell’s new position is the latest addition to JustWatch’s international team, after the Berlin-based company hired John W. Gibbons as president of the North American division in September and announced plans to open its first office in the Los Angeles area.
