“Eddington” took home a modest $11 million at the worldwide box office when it released in theaters in July, as many may prefer to watch the Ari Aster film from home instead. It might find a bigger audience now that it’s available to watch via premium video on-demand online.
The Joaquin Phoenix-led movie, which also stars Pedro Pascal and Emma Stone, is now rentable for $19.99, or you can buy it digitally for $24.99 on Prime Video, Apple TV and other video-on-demand platforms.
Please note: If you opt to rent the movie, you’ll have access to it for 30 days. And once you start it, you’ll only have 48 hours to finish it.
Meanwhile, A24 has yet to announce when “Eddington” will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. However, it’s likely to be released sometime in late September or early October — if not sooner.
Written and directed by Ari Aster (“Beau Is Afraid,” “Midsommar”), “Eddington” is set in the small fictional town of Eddington, New Mexico during the COVID-19 global pandemic in May 2020. It follows Sheriff Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) coming to blows with Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) over how the town should handle the outbreak. The disagreement quick escalates into a fiery and violent division between neighbors, as both Cross and Garcia run for mayor to determine a new direction for Eddington.
The neo-western also stars Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler, Cameron Mann, Matt Gomez Hidaka, Amélie Hoeferle, William Belleau and others. The film’s running time is two hours and 28 minutes.
Starting on Tuesday, Aug. 12, you can watch “Eddington” in 4K Ultra HD online. You can rent it for $19.99, or buy it for $24.99 on Prime Video and Apple TV. In the meantime, watch the trailer for the movie below.
