‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ Casts Fresh Faces

The London West End’s magical money-maker is getting a cast refresh. Producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions have revealed that “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will welcome new principal cast members starting Oct. 15, as the production extends its Palace Theatre run through July 26, 2026.

Joshua Sullivan steps into the pivotal role of Albus Potter, with Kai Spackman taking on Scorpius Malfoy. The duo will be joined by Oliver Boot as Draco Malfoy and Tamia-Renée Alexandra as Rose Granger-Weasley. Returning to anchor the production are David Ricardo-Pearce and Claire Lams as Harry and Ginny Potter, alongside Thomas Aldridge and Naana Agyei-Ampadu, who continue as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Set 19 years after the original trio saved the wizarding world, “The Cursed Child” follows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they navigate parenthood while a new generation begins their journey at Hogwarts, promising “spectacular spells, a mind-blowing race through time, and an epic battle to stop mysterious forces.”

Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, the play by Jack Thorne is directed by John Tiffany. The creative team includes movement by Steven Hoggett, sets by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, and illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison.

The London production remains the only version worldwide presented in its original two-part format. Now in its ninth year at the Palace Theatre, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” has become a West End institution, having been seen by two million theatergoers in London alone and over 11 million worldwide. The production boasts a trophy haul of 60 major honors, including nine Laurence Olivier Awards (among them best new play) and six Tony Awards, also including best new play.

The global “Cursed Child” empire currently spans five productions across London, New York, Hamburg, Tokyo, and a North American tour currently playing Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center before moving to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre in February 2026.
