: A late night accident in Mohanlalganj area left the driver of a sleeper bus seriously injured after the vehicle lost control and rammed into a house near Phulwariya on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place around 1:30 am when a Jaipur bound sleeper bus was passing through the stretch. The bus, which had started its journey from Varanasi and was travelling via Prayagraj, reportedly swerved suddenly to avoid a truck that appeared from the Jyoti Nagar side. In the process, the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into the gate and boundary wall of a nearby house.
The impact damaged the front portion of the house, including its gate and wall. The bus driver, identified as Vivek Chauhan (42), suffered serious injuries, including a fracture in his leg. He was first taken to the community health centre in Mohanlalganj and later referred to the Trauma Centre for advanced treatment.
The bus conductor, Harshdeep (25), also sustained injuries and has been admitted to the Trauma Centre. Around 30 to 35 passengers on board escaped with minor injuries and were later sent to their destinations through alternative arrangements.
Police teams cleared the road with the help of a crane. Enforcement officials said the incident has come to their notice. Preliminary investigation suggests the accident may have occurred after a truck allegedly came from the wrong side. However, detailed probe is still underway.
