Bad Bunny’s Best Songs: Critics’ Picks

Part of 2023’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, “ACHO PR” unites Bad Bunny with three pioneers of reggaetón music: Arcángel, De La Ghetto & Ñengo Flow. At first glance, the song is an ode to life in the barrio in Puerto Rico, with its parties and its music, its crime and excess, but it’s also about winning and inspiring the new generations. The Puerto Rican artist dropped its nearly 12-minute-long homemade music video on his 30th birthday (March 10, 2024), showcasing how the song was created at the recording studio alongside longtime collaborators Tainy and MAG. “ACHO PR” debuted on the Hot Latin Songs and Hot 100 charts in October 2023.

Bad Bunny really wanted to get a “F- love” message across in this track. Bad Bunny’s piano-led ballad captures us with lyrics about not wanting to fall in love again.

This track is a melancholic trip kicked off by Raquel’s soothing and warm vocals. She then meets Bunny’s profound lyrics, which represent the strength of a woman who only wants to be loved, respected and free in her own unapologetic way.

This six-minute track became one of the most memorable ones on Bad Bunny’s latest  Debí Tirar Más Fotos album, mainly because of its saucy salsa rhythm backed by live instrumentations — congas, piano, trumpets and all that jazz. For the song, he recruited music students from Puerto Rico’s Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan, Ernesto Ramos Antonini (ELMERA). The song, which is about a man who can’t forget the woman he loved — especially the one who taught him how to dance — peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart this February, and is nominated for the coveted record of the year and song of the year trophies at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards.

“Bendiciones” off of his album Las Que No Iban a Salir came as a blessing in the middle of 2020. “Blessings to all,” a grateful Bunny sings in the trap anthem. “Health and life to everyone.”

The trap song is named after the former professional WWE wrestler and WCW champion, and highlights all the success Bunny’s had as of late. He sings about being named Composer of the Year, sweeping major awards, breaking records with his music, and more.

A love letter to Puerto Rican traditions, “Café con Ron” blends the island’s soul, a morning cup of coffee, an afternoon sip of rum, and the rhythms of plena — a style rooted in cultural storytelling. Featuring Los Pleneros de la Cresta, this lively song from Debí Tirar Más Fotos captures the vibe of the streets, from Arecibo to Ponce, Fajardo to Rincón. The lyrics invite listeners to dance, party, and head “pa’ la montaña,” where life is filled with music, laughter, and community pride. Fun fact: Bad Bunny owns a real café/bar by the same name in Viejo San Juan, making the song feel like an extension of his pride in the island’s vibrant culture.

Released in 2019, the Tainy-produced “Callaíta” is the gift that keeps on giving. When it was released, the track earned Tainy his first Billboard chart entry as an artist and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart (dated June 15, 2019).  Most recently, it re-entered the chart at No. 24 since the single is part of Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti.

In his earlier trap Bunny days, Bad Bunny penned a song to those who questioned his fashion-forward sense of style—including his painted nails. “Caro” shuts the haters, reminding everyone that he’s unique, a rule-breaker, and his “flow is expensive.”

The Bad Bunny trap era had different beats, producers, another flow, and marked the early beginnings of his success. “Chambea” was a force that soundtracked the Bunny trap movement.

This genre-bending reggaetón track made Billboard history, becoming the first Latin hit to simultaneously crown both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. The futuristic, club-ready track is part of Bunny’s El Último Tour del Mundo album.

“De Museo” is one of Bad Bunny’s less-commercial tunes — but nonetheless, one of the most honest and vulnerable in his catalog. Released as a surprise track during Fourth of July weekend in 2021 — and following up his Hot Latin Songs-topping smash “Yonaguni” — the song starts off with the Puerto Rican superstar reflecting on time, loyalty and remaining humble, before transitioning into a melancholy trap song. “Yeah, time goes by, goes by and doesn’t stop/ I’m getting old and yesterday I was a baby, hey/ The problems ‘come and go, hey/ With my God I am always thankful for everything I’ve accomplished and lived/ For all the times I’ve cried and laughed,” Bunny sings.

For a minute straight, Bad Bunny sings over a slow, psychedelic beat about being adventurous and making plans after a beach day. Then “Después De La Playa” transitions to a mambo, flaunting once more his artistic versatility.

Tucked toward the end of his debut album X100PRE, the feel-good track is a must-listen. The track narrates Bunny’s journey to the top and, most importantly, wants his fans to know he’s doing just fine. “Don’t worry, we’re all doing well,” he sings.

Over breezy, Afrobeats and Latin-inspired production, Bad Bunny brings the heat with his dynamic verse, turning up the tempo with lines about G-Wagons, beachside hookups and private jet escapes. Travis Scott sets the stage with a mellow opening, while The Weeknd delivers smooth, atmospheric vocals that add a sultry touch. The trio blends global influences into a rhythmic track perfect for late-night vibes. “K-POP” is proof that when superstars collide, the result is a hit built to dominate the charts — in this case, debuting in the top 10 of the Hot 100.

It’s safe to say that “La Canción” is an essential track off of Oasis, his 2019 joint album with J Balvin. While the title of the song is simple and easy to remember, “The Song,” the message goes a bit deeper as the pair reminisce on good times with their ex that come to mind when the song starts playing.

Included in Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, “La Difícil” is the first reggaeton banger that we hear on the album (if you’re listening from top to bottom). It’s hypnotizing reggaeton beat is what makes it hard to skip but its lyrics about an independent woman with an i-do-what-want attitude is what makes it a quintessential Bunny song.

Joining the already-long list of collaborations that Arcángel and Bad Bunny had released, “La Jumpa” is a standout for its futuristic sound, fusing trap with electronic music. Released in November 2022, the upbeat, head-bobbing track was recorded remotely, but perfectly captures that quintessential cheeky banter between Arcángel and Bad Bunny.

A track that was way ahead of its time, this trap-dembow fusion helped catapult a trend that brings classic bachata rhythms and guitars that then transition into an explosion of dembow.

Leave it to Tainy to turn heartache into a vibe. With “Lo Siento BB:/,” the Puerto Rican producer brings together the silky melancholy vocals of Julieta Venegas and the relatable sad boy musings of Bad Bunny for a mesmerizing track that perfectly fuses carefree reggaetón with unfiltered emotion. With lines like “Cupido e’ un huelebicho” (Cupid’s a jerk), Bunny croons about his inability to commit. Tainy’s production is effortlessly understated, anchored by hypnotic synths, while the Mexican pop legend pleads for a love she can’t let go of. “Lo Siento BB:/” is proof that sometimes, with the right voices and just the right beat, heartbreak can sound this good — and leave you vibing while you cry-dance in the living room.

A standout track on his El Último Tour del Mundo is the rock-en-español-inspired “Maldita Pobreza.” With a late ’80s/early ’90s vibe, Bad Bunny proved he’s unafraid to experiment with different sounds and tap into different genres.

“Me Porto Bonito” unites Bunny’s deep vocals with Chench Corleone’s signature high-pitched tones, in a song about a girl who’s elite and has no limits. This saucy track can easily become a fan favorite because of its fusion of old-school and modern perreo.

We’ll take Drake singing in español any time, especially when he’s doing it with Bad Bunny. The pair collaborated for the first time in 2018 for this ultra romantic song that topped Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs.

Lead single “Monaco” set the tone for Bunny’s 2023 Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana album, a true testament to the downfalls, the wins, the life lessons. Considered an avant-garde sound for the Latin artist, the classy trap song — accompanied by elegant violin and piano melodies — samples Charles Aznavour’s 1964 song “Hier Encore.” In “Monaco,” which hit No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs, Billboard Global 200, and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, the artist sings about his luxurious lifestyle and having famous friends like Leonardo DiCaprio, while sending a clear message to the haters. In a gist, he’s the best in the game and has no comparison.

This opener of Un Verano Sin Ti sees Bad Bunny exploring a complicated connection with a woman who remains distant — she doesn’t save his number, and only texts when he messages first. Despite her cold demeanor, their undeniable chemistry keeps pulling them back together. The title’s symbolism further elevates the song: a Moscow mule, served in a chilled copper mug, mirrors the woman’s emotional “coldness,” making her distance feel tangible. Musically, the track blends reggaetón with tropical summer vibes, pairing heartfelt lyrics with an infectious rhythm. The song reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 and topped Hot Latin Songs for a remarkable 36 weeks.

With its infectious dembow rhythm and sharp political critique, “NuevaYol” transforms cultural resistance into a decolonial anthem for unity and liberation. This Hot Latin Songs No. 1 opener of Debí Tirar Más Fotos samples El Gran Combo’s 1975 classic “Un Verano en Nueva York,” celebrating the hybrid identity of Nuyoricans while spotlighting Puerto Rico’s ongoing colonial struggles. The music video, released on Independence Day (July 4, 2025), features the powerful image of the Puerto Rican flag draped over the Statue of Liberty’s crown. Once again Bad Bunny proves that resistance can dance, and liberation starts by reclaiming spaces that have long shaped and confined marginalized voices.

Bad Bunny joins forces with The Marias (composed by Puerto Rican singer María Zardoya and L.A. native Josh Conway) on “Otro Atardecer.” The Spanglish bop steps away from urban and perfectly brings to life a chill, indie-pop gem that will have you in a trance.

Beaming Puerto Rican pride, Bad Bunny makes a powerful statement in the trap track “PFKNR” with Arcángel and Kendo Kaponi in tow. Throughout the track, they double down on what it truly means to be from the island. Like many of Bad Bunny’s songs, this one instantly became an anthem for Puerto Ricans.

Bad Bunny takes it way back with this old-school reggaetón song on which he recruits OG reggaetoneros Jowell & Randy and Ñengo Flow. “Safaera,” produced by Tainy and DJ Orma, is the ultimate reggaetón dance song to get down to thanks to its contagious beats — including Missy Elliott’s famous riff from “Get Your Freak On.”

This is probably one of the most romantic songs on Bad Bunny’s catalogue, where he’s vulnerable and reminiscent of a past love. In the lyrics, the artist recalls all the great times he and his ex-girlfriend had and wonders what would have happened if they stayed together, which is why the music video showcases a small wedding chapel.

A mid-tempo, catchy trap song with powerful lyrics about gender-based and domestic violence , and discovering your strength and self-love. “Don’t call me baby anymore, I’m not yours, I belong to myself,” says the chorus. The music video, portrayed by Venezuelan actress Laura Chimaras, shows a woman who’s silently beaten but overcomes the toxic relationship.

The nostalgic “Te Mudaste” is about a person reminiscing about a long lost love, and remembering all the good times they had together. A surprising bachata melody that turns into an innovative dembow song, “Titi Me Pregunto” is about an f-boy who always gets asked by his aunt about his novia situation. When you least expect it, the song switches to a trap track with electric guitar riffs, making this the ultimate party anthem.

The guitar-led “Trellas” calls for a double-take. Perhaps the most chill and laid back track on El Último Tour del Mundo, Bad Bunny stepped out of his comfort zone and draws inspiration from the Spanish rock/alternative realm for this otherworldly tune

In 2018, Bad Bunny was not only launching his own career in reggaetón and cementing his status, he was also acknowledging those that paved the road for him. Bad Bunny’s Hector El Father-sampling trap single “Tú No Metes Cabra” is a nod to one of the genre’s first big hits “Noche de Travesura.” Following the tribute to El Father at the top of the song, Bad Bunny goes on to sing about his rapid ascend to fame. “I’m rising like foam,” he declares.

A ballad at its core, this delicate and beautiful bolero, powered by weeping guitar riffs, finds Bad Bunny at his most vulnerable, reflecting on those that come and go from his life, and don’t fully get to know his heart. “Turista,” or “tourist” in English, can also be interpreted as a political statement on how tourism industry impacts the island, which continues to recover after the devastating 2017 Hurricane Maria. “Tú solo viste lo mejor de mí y no lo que yo sufría (You only saw the best of me and not how I suffered),” he sings evocatively.

As a nod to regional Mexican music’s ever-growing global appeal, Bad Bunny collaborated with Grupo Frontera on a traditional cumbia norteña track. In this head-turning collaboration, Bad Bunny’s deep, mature vocals blend seamlessly with Grupo Frontera lead vocalist Payo’s raspy and more melodic voice to narrate a story of someone who is haunted by memories of a past relationship, grappling with the decision to make one final phone call in hopes of seeking forgiveness.

A mix of vulnerable emo lyrics and chill reggaetón beats brings “Yonaguni” to life. Named after an island in Japan, Bunny sings about overcoming about overcoming a breakup but missing that special someone no matter how hard he tries.

A reggaeton anthem for independent women who like to dance alone at the club. “Yo Perreo Sola,” which translates to “I twerk alone,” is part of Bunny’s chart-topping YHLQMDLG set.
