Ashley Judd is healing her inner child.
When the Heat actress turned 58 in April, instead of celebrating with a classic birthday, she threw herself a playful celebration in honor of her younger self—an experience that turned out to be healing.
“On my 58th birthday, my inner 12-year-old was ready to receive love, care, attunement, delight, protection, and provision,” Ashley captioned a May 12 Instagram post. “Have you ever considered, from your adult perspective, restaging for your sweet inner child an experience she either never had at all?”
Indeed, Ashley went on to reflect on her preteen self’s “unmet needs,” and how she can now fill those holes with “love and humor.”
Among the recollections the Missing alum has from her sixth-grade year with teacher Mrs. Minor are learning about geology and dinosaurs, the difference between stalagmites and stalactites and the six weeks of square dancing in gym class.
So, among the activities Ashley and a group of “sensitive, playful people who also relish carefree timelessness” engaged in for her 12th birthday party was, of course, square dancing.
