One of our favorite earbuds with ear hooks is back on sale. Typically priced at $250, Beats’ Powerbeats Pro 2 are on sale for just under $200. The deal applies to every colorway, of which there are four: black, orange, lavender, and gray.
Released in February, the PowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds feature active-noise canceling, soft ear hooks, and dependable physical controls that are easy to use during sweaty workouts. The earbuds got their first-ever discount in May, and now they’re back on sale, but it’s not clear for how long.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 were the long-awaited successor to one of Beats’ most popular workout earbuds, and the brand knew they couldn’t just slap on a fresh coat of paint and call it a day. Instead, the PowerBeats got a major design overhaul, with a new shape for the earbuds and the case, plus new features.
The ear hooks are softer and more ergonomic, and the case was significantly slimmed down over the last generation. As expected, Apple swapped the Lightning port for USB-C. There are some eye-catching new colors, like electric orange and hyper purple.
The biggest upgrades are internal. Beats added active noise canceling (ANC), a feature lacking on the last generation. There’s also in-ear detection; removing an earbud will automatically pause your music.

Both earbuds have a heart rate sensor that’s compatible with third-party apps for both iOS and Android. Runners and cyclists can set up the earbuds to get real-time heart rate monitoring on Strava, for example. There are some drawbacks; the audio quality and ANC aren’t as impressive as AirPods Pro 2, and users have reported issues with the accuracy of the heart rate monitor.

One of the best features of these earbuds is one of the least fancy — Beats kept the physical volume and multifunction buttons from the first generation. Touch sensors can be prone to accidental swipes, particularly during workouts, and Beats handy physical buttons are easy to use during any workout.
It’s clear the Beats sought to reinvent the Powerbeats from the ground up, which is why they were met with a lot of fanfare when they came out, and they’re even better for $50 off. It’s not clear how long this deal will last, so it’s a good idea to act quickly.
