Jack Black, Jack White to Celebrate the ‘Most Metal Holidays’

Saturday Night Live is scheduled to get a double dose of Jack this weekend. Jack Black is set to host the for the fifth time, making him a part of the Five Timers Club, while White will appear as the evening’s musical guest — his sixth time, once as a member of the White Stripes and five times as a solo artist.

The two Jacks marked the epic occasion with a trailer alongside SNL cast member Marcello Hernández. “Hey, I’m Jack Black and I’ll be hosting SNL this week with Jack White!” declares the Tenacious D rocker in the clip. “It’s the Easter show!” White chimes in, while Black adds: “And the Passover show, homie. The two most metal holidays of all time!”

Jack then throws up the sign of the horns and exclaims, “Lamb’s blood!” White adds, “Rising from the dead!” and Black comes back with, “Exodus!”

In an effort to keep the references metal, Hernandez shouts, “The Easter Bunny!” — thus killing the vibe.

The rest of the teaser leans into the beloved cheesiness behind the artists’ color-contrasting last names. (Notably, the two Jacks linked up in 2019, much to the internet’s delight, when Black’s Tenacious D rolled into White’s Third Man Studios in Nashville to record “Don’t Blow It, Kage.”) At one point, Hernandez tries to unsuccessfully make a name for himself as a bonafide Jack until Black delivers the disappointing news: “You’re more of a Greg.”

Earlier this week, SNL also released a “Get Ready With Me” promo with Black that followed the musician and actor as he suited up for his hosting duties. Naturally, the GRWM skit included Black throwing on cat prints, florts (“flaming shorts”), tie-dye tube socks, Crocs, and a “buckeanie!”
