Actor and filmmaker Satyajeet Puri has shared an anecdote about Dharmendra that sheds light on the veteran star’s reputation for standing his ground during a time when the underworld reportedly held considerable influence in the film industry.

Speaking to Friday Talkies, Puri said that while many in Bollywood were intimidated, Dharmendra never showed fear. “The underworld was very strong back then. A lot of actors would get scared if they were called. But Dharamji and his family never feared them,” he recalled. According to him, Dharmendra would firmly warn, “If you come, all of Sahnewal will come from Punjab. You may have 10 people, but I have an entire army. One word from me and trucks full of people will reach to stand with me. Don’t try it.”

Puri added that the warning was enough, and no one ever attempted to cross that line.

On November 2, Esha Deol added a throwback picture to thank people for their birthday wishes for her. “I am because of you . I love you my papa & mamma. “I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery,” she posted on X.

A representative for his son, actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol, denied speculation that the “Sholay” star had been put on a ventilator.

“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Kindly don’t indulge in spreading false rumours regarding his health. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy,” the PR representative said.

Minutes after refuting reports, Esha Deol was spotted arriving at the Breach Candy Hospital.
