GM is continuing its shift to Tesla’s NACS charging standard, and the 2027 Chevy Blazer EV is next in line.
The 2027 Chevy Blazer EV will feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port instead of the CCS connector used on earlier models. That change puts the Blazer EV in step with General Motors’ broader plan to move its EV lineup over to NACS, a transition the automaker said would start with 2026 models.
The Blazer EV isn’t the first to make the switch. The 2027 Chevy Bolt is also set to use NACS, while the 2026 Cadillac Optiq was GM’s first EV to roll out with the new port.
If you’ve been following the charging space, then you will have seen this coming. NACS is quickly becoming the standard in North America, largely because it gives drivers access to Tesla’s massive Supercharger network – still the most reliable and widely available fast-charging option in the US.
GM says drivers won’t lose access to CCS chargers because it will offer adapters for both home and public charging. That will enable Blazer EV owners to plug into CCS Level 2 charging stations and CCS DC fast chargers.
In other words, GM is opening the door for its Blazer drivers to access over 3,000 Supercharger stations, in addition to all the CCS chargers.

GM knows that for many drivers, charging anxiety isn’t about range anymore; it’s about reliability. And right now, Tesla’s Supercharger network still sets the bar in the US.
So the Chevy Blazer EV going NACS in 2027 is less a technical upgrade and more a confidence play. It tells buyers they’ll have access to thousands of chargers people trust.
GM providing adapters is also key. There’s still a huge amount of good CCS hardware in the ground, and more is being installed. Providing many more charging options is a no-brainer.
