Mattel is leaning all the way into Oz this summer.
Timed to the lead-up of “Wicked: Part Two,” the second installment of Universal’s hotly anticipated two-part film, the toy giant is expanding its “Wicked: For Good” line with a fresh wave of dolls and playsets inspired by the characters, costumes and settings of the upcoming sequel — including new figures modeled after Ariana Grande’s Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba.
The new drop, launching July 16 at major retailers and Mattel Shop, features both deluxe fashion dolls and collectible small dolls that allow fans to reimagine key scenes from the musical fantasy saga. The standout additions include the Deluxe Elphaba Fashion Doll, complete with her signature broom, spell book (a.k.a. the Grimmerie), and frayed black gown; and the Deluxe Glinda Doll in her sparkling, organza-layered ballgown with wand, tiara and golden curls — both retailing for $39.99.
Also joining the lineup is a brand-new Dorothy Gale doll ($24.99), styled in the character’s iconic blue gingham dress and braided pigtails, alongside her trusty basket and pup. The small doll sets, like the Oz Story Set and Students of Shiz Multipack, feature miniatures of beloved characters including the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Nessarose, Fiyero, and Boq, with bobble-head details and accessories for added storytelling flair.
For fans looking to build out their own Land of Oz, the Emerald City Playset ($39.99) offers a modular backdrop inspired by the movie’s gilded metropolis. With five reconfigurable play spaces, 15 accessories, and a hidden Wizard reveal, it’s designed for 360-degree imaginative play.
“Wicked: For Good,”, which chronicles the second act of the beloved Broadway show, will open in theaters on Nov. 21. Jon M. Chu directed the two-part “Wicked” extravaganza, which stars Grande, Cynthia, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Bailey. Set before, during and after “The Wizard of Oz,” the story tells the origins of Grande’s Glinda (later known as Glinda the Good) and Erivo’s Elphaba (eventually dubbed the Wicked Witch of the West) before Dorothy landed in Oz and sauntered down the Yellow Brick Road.
