Waymo has gotten into the holiday spirit and is trying to attract more riders — or at least reward and brighten the days of existing riders — with a special Mariah Carey holiday mode.
“We’re thrilled to launch our latest artist collaboration with award-winning global superstar, songwriter, singer, best-selling author and pop’s reigning Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey,” Waymo wrote. “Riders in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix have the chance to hail a limited-edition Waymo wrapped in a custom Mariah Carey holiday design!
“To unlock the full Mariah experience, open the Waymo app and redeem the code MARIAH (for first time riders) or MARIAHMODE (for returning riders) to activate an exclusive in-car experience:
- Mariah themed wallpaper
- A holiday greeting from Mariah
- The ultimate holiday mix curated by Mariah”
It’s a fun way Waymo is trying to brighten up riders’ experiences, contribute to holiday spirit, and, well, let’s be honest, stimulate more business.
There’s also one small bonus for all riders, whether they get a Mariah-wrapped Waymo or not. “The holiday gifts don’t stop there! Starting today, all riders will experience a special greeting in their car from Mariah herself,” Waymo added.
If only there were Waymo robotaxis near me to try this out….
If you are in a region where you can get a Mariah Mode Waymo, here are more details on how to get the special treatment:
Redemption Details
To redeem the code and maximize the experience riders can follow the below steps:
- Redeem the promo code in the “Offers & Promotions” section of the account tab in-app
- Head to the “Music” section of the account tab and ensure “Autoplay music” is toggled off
- Hail your ride and get ready for a Mariah surprise when you board and press start ride.
Note riders with Spotify and YouTube Music accounts connected to their Waymo app will not have Mariah’s holiday mix played automatically, but can easily access the mix in the iHeart station list in-car.
