Troy Baker, ‘Dragon Ball’ Editor Torishima Set for Comicon Napoli

Popular U.S. voice actor Troy Baker (“The Last of Us”), Grammy-nominated video game composer Austin Wintory (“Journey,” “Assassin’s Creed Syndicate “) and Japanese manga magazine editor Kazuhiko Torishima — who has been instrumental to shepherding the “Dragon Ball” franchise — are among the top guests set to attend Italy’s Comicon Napoli that will run April 30-May 3.

The international pop culture festival held in Naples, Italy, has also secured other prominent names in the global comics sphere such as Sony Pictures Animation production designer and concept artist Aurélien Predal, who helped shape the visuals for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Inside Out 2” and the “Despicable Me” saga (he also designed this year’s Comicon Napoli poster); Japanese manga artist Makoto Yukimura, best known for the sci-fi series “Planetes” and creating the Viking anime show “Vinland Saga”; and British comic book artist and writer Liam Sharpe (“The Green Lantern”).

Comicon Napoli, now at its 26th edition, has become a prominent European pop culture and fandom event with more that 183,000 visitors last year, according to organizers.

Also expected on hand to meet fans in Naples are Japanese manga artist and illustrator Satoshi Shiki, whose works include “Riot,” “Kamikaze” and “Daphne in the Brilliant Blue”; Spain-based Serbian comic book author and illustrator R. M. Guéra, best known for his art on the DC Comics bestseller series “Scalped,” a noir set on a Native American reservation; U.S. comic book writer and illustrator Don Rosa, known for his Disney comics about Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck; and California-based Andrea Pessino, co-founder of video game development studio Ready at Dawn, known for “Daxter,” “Echo Combat” and “Lone Echo,” among other games, which was shut down by Meta in 2024. 

Legendary American underground cartoon artist Robert Crumb will also be honored with a major exhibition in Naples, described in a statement as one the cornerstones of this year’s edition.
