Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye recently joined forces with the brew giant to co-create a brand new coffee blend inspired by his life offstage. Celebrating his Ethiopian roots, the “Samra Origins” collection (which is also named after his mother) is a “deeply personal” collaboration for the Timeless singer, which “reflects the richness of his past,” according to Nespresso’s website.
“Coffee runs deep in my family culture — it’s about gathering, sharing, reflecting,” Tesfaye said in a release. “That’s what Samra Origins and Nespresso mean to me — sharing a love of that tradition and making it accessible to many coffee lovers is truly incredible.”
Starting May 28, the Nespresso x Samra Origins by The Weeknd collection will be available online and in Nespresso boutiques featuring a new coffee, the Samra Origins “Togetherness Blend”, along with a limited-edition tumbler (there are also plans for more product releases later down the line this year).

The “Togetherness Blend” is a double espresso described as having sweet honey and woody notes, with a “deliciously smooth blend of lightly roasted African Arabicas”. The blend is available for $14.50 for a sleeve that contains 10 capsules, and is a 100% African Arabica blend that uses a mix of unwashed and washed beans. The washed arabicas are combined and light-roasted to preserve acidity and delicate fruity notes, while the unwashed beans are slightly roasted to develop body and intensity, according to the description.
