The fantastical world of Wes Anderson’s newest film “The Phoenician Scheme” is the inspiration behind a new whimsical collection from Edie Parker.
Ahead of the film’s release this week, the lifestyle and accessories brand has launched a special edition version of their handheld lighter, updated with a sleek gold finish and encrusted on all sides with an array of multi-colored glass cabochons. Alongside the lighter is a handblown pipe directly inspired by the ones featured in the film. A true collector’s item, there will be only 10 Gemstoned Glass Corn Cob Pipes available and will go live on Edie Parker’s site starting June 3.
“The wonderful worlds of Wes Anderson have been on practically every mood board we’ve ever made,” Edie Parker founder Brett Heyman said in a statement. “To collaborate with him on these pieces and play with his saturated palettes, sense of nostalgia and striking visuals, inspired by his brilliant new film, is truly a dream.”
Anderson’s latest directorial effort, which competed at Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, features a sprawling cast led by Benicio del Toro, Michael Cera and breakout leading lady Mia Threapleton. Anderson alums fill out the ensemble, including Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, F. Murray Abraham and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The 90-minute film stars del Toro as business magnate Zsa-zsa Korda, who happens to be one of the richest men in Europe. Threapleton stars as his daughter, a nun named Sister Liesel, with Cera making his long-awaited Anderson movie debut as her tutor Bjorn Lund.
