‘The Lost Bus’ Teaser With Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera

Apple Original Films has released the official teaser trailer for The Lost Bus, giving a first glance at Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera in the forthcoming dramatic thriller centered around California’s 2018 Camp Fire.

The film is based on Lizzie Johnson’s fact-based novel Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, which chronicles the state’s deadliest fire ever. The Oscar winner and nominee, respectively, star as Kevin McKay and Mary Ludwig, a bus driver and a teacher, who helped rescue a bus full of children.

In the teaser, a dispatcher can be heard saying, “There’s a situation at Ponderosa Elementary. There are 23 kids who are stranded. Is there anybody in the area that can pick them up?”

McConaughey’s Kevin can be seen picking up a walkie-talkie to seemingly answer the dispatcher’s call. Later, a harrowing clip of a school bus driving through a blaze is shown.

Paul Greengrass served as director while also writing the film alongside Brad Ingelsby. Of the project, Greengrass shared in a statement, “The Lost Bus is the story of quiet heroism — of people coming together in the face of the unthinkable. I’m honored to have been entrusted with this story.”

Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis had the idea for the project after hearing Johnson on NPR. Curtis serves as a producer via her Comet Pictures, while Jason Blum produces for Blumhouse Productions. Additional producers include Ingelsby and Gregory Goodman, while Johnson serves as an executive producer.

Alongside McConaughey and Ferrera, the cast includes Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson and Spencer Watson.

The Lost Bus will arrive on Apple TV+ and select theaters this fall.
