The 2027 iX4 is set to join BMW’s electric vehicle lineup soon, bringing a new coupe SUV-like style to the family. Ahead of its debut, the 2027 BMW iX4 was spotted testing in Sweden, giving us a closer look at what to expect.
BMW adds the iX4 to its 2027 EV lineup
BMW is overhauling its lineup with several new additions this year. After its 2027 models leaked online last week, we got a sneak peek at BMW’s upcoming vehicles before the company took the site down.
In addition to the iX3 SUV, the first of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric vehicles, the iX4 will arrive in the US as a 2027 model.
BMW’s leaked info confirmed the fully electric 2027 iX4 will replace the X4. It will be available in two all-wheel-drive (AWD) trims: 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive, offering buyers different performance and range options (which have yet to be announced).
Ahead of its expected debut later this year, the 2027 iX4 was spotted for the first time during winter testing in Sweden.
As you can see in the new images from AutoEvolution, the iX4 clearly features BMW’s updated Neue Klasse design, with its new four-eyed kidney grille. Thanks to its slanted roofline, the iX4 will offer a sleeker, more coupe-like alternative to the iX3.
Although the interior is still covered, it’s expected to feature a similar minimalist setup to the iX3 with a massive 17.9″ central touchscreen, new steering wheel, and BMW’s Panoramic Vision 3D Head-Up Display.
Powered by a 108 kWh battery, BMW drove the iX3 over 1,000 km (621 miles) last year. It’s rated with up to 800 km (497 miles) under WLTP.

On the US EPA scale, it’s expected to deliver around 400 miles. Since the iX4 will use the same underpinnings, you can expect it to also be available with around 400 miles of range.
With the iX4 arriving at dealerships as a 2027 model, it’s expected to make an official debut by the end of the year. Check back soon for more. We’ll keep you updated with the latest.
