You’re likely to see a multitude of plaid bathroom robes on the streets this Halloween. But unlike years past, movie bros won’t be smoking a fake cigar as Tony Soprano. Instead, they’ll have a vape and rifle in tow as they take on the role of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Bob Ferguson from “One Battle After Another.”
Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest epic is just one of the films and TV shows out this year that is a gold mine for costume inspiration this Halloween. Costume designing in Hollywood has only gotten bigger and better in recent years, casting a spotlight on characters’ clothes like never before — from Sister Liesl’s all-white habit in Wes Anderson’s “Phoenician Scheme” to Brad Pitt’s F1 uniform as racecar driver Sonny Hayes.
Off the screen, musicians have also upped their game this year with costume-worthy stage ensembles. Take inspiration from Chappell Roan with a firetruck red wig, or celebrate Oasis‘s electric reunion tour with a stylish couples get-up inspired by Liam and Noel Gallagher. If your costume smells like beer, ego and Britpop nostalgia, you’re doing it right.
