‘Spaceballs’ Sequel Gets April 2027 Release Date

Amazon MGM Studios has set Mel Brooks‘ long-awaited “Spaceballs” sequel to debut next spring.

The sci-fi spoof movie, which marks a return to acting for star Rick Moranis, will be released on April 23, 2027.

Moranis will reprising his role as Lord Dark Helmet alongside Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Brooks as the Yoda-esque being Yogurt, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz. Newcomers to the goofy intergalactic adventure include Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan.

“While the title and plot details are being kept under wraps, the title is rumored to be the name of the movie, and plot details are being described as information about what happens in the story,” reads the film’s tongue-in-cheek synopsis.

Josh Greenbaum, who is known for “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” and “Will & Harper,” is directing from a script by Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.

Deadline first reported the dating news.
