Paddington Bear to Present at BAFTA Film Awards

This weekend’s BAFTA Film Awards is set to get a marmalade-y splash of furry Peruvian charm.

Paddington Bear has been confirmed as one of the ceremony presenters, with the beloved creature — currently on stage at the West End in “Paddington the Musical” — set to present the award for best children’s and family film (a category his last big screen outing “Paddington in Peru” was notably absent from last year).

Paddington’s involvement will likely be a first for the BAFTAs, which is unlikely to have seen a four-pawed member of the ursine family giving an award before.

Other, more human, presenters on the night are set to include Aaron Pierre, Aimee Lou Wood, Alicia Vikander, Alia Bhatt, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, David Jonsson, Delroy Lindo, Emily Watson, Erin Doherty, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Hannah Waddingham, Karen Gillan, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Little Simz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, Milly Alcock, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Noah Jupe, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Regé-Jean Page, Riz Ahmed, Sadie Sink, Stellan Skargård, Stormzy and Warwick Davis.

Elsewhere on the night, alongside the actual nominated films and talent, the ceremony will see the first performance outside the U.S. of “Golden” from smash-hit animationi “Kpop Demon Hunters,” sung by Jae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. Meanwhilee, Jessie Ware will cover one of Barbara Streisand’s songs during the In Memoriam section.
