When Shaun, 39, shared the news on Instagram, he simply captioned the intimate moment, “She said yes.” While Nina posted on her social media, “RIP Boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
The Degrassi: The Next Generation alum had always been the athlete’s biggest cheerleader, especially after retiring from snowboarding in 2022. In fact, she had even gathered Shaun’s loved ones for a special surprise ahead of his final competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
“She knew all of my friends and family couldn’t be there and she got everyone together and made this incredible video of everyone saying how much they wish they could be there and sending their love and support,” Shaun told E! at the time. “So that was just so wonderful. It really set the tone for the rest of the trip.”
