Molly McCann Joins Jean Reno, Tom Hollander in ‘The Butler’

Molly McCann (“Freelance,” “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping”) is set to co-star in the high-octane period action-thriller, “The Butler,” alongside Jean Reno and Tom Hollander. Tom Edmunds (“Dead in a Week: Or Your Money Back”) will direct.

Reno will star as a former WWI commando whose life of quiet service is violently disrupted when a dangerous past resurfaces.

“The Butler” delivers “a bold and visually arresting twist on the revenge thriller—merging kinetic action with the simmering drama of a household caught between loyalty and survival,” according to a statement.

The screenplay was written by Tom Edmunds and Craig McInnes, based on an original story by McInnes.

Daniel Baur’s K5 Intl. added more sales since the presentations of the new feature at Berlinale and Cannes this year, including Splendid Film (German-speaking territories), Polarstar (LatAm), SPI Intl. (Eastern Europe and Benelux), Arna (CIS and Baltics), Cinesky (Airline), Falcon Films (Middle East), Tanweer (Greece and Turkey) and PT Prima (Indonesia).

“The Butler” is produced by Christopher Tuffin, Amanda Delaplaine, Ari Novak and Daniel-Konrad Cooper. Executive producers include William Ramsey and Colin Bates for Valecroft, Roy Scott MacFarland for Tetrad, Kevin Townsend, Nadezda Motina, Aram Ovannisyan, Tom Edmunds, Chris Ochs, Sophie Delaplaine, and Andrew Bates, along with Daniel Baur for K5 Intl. The film is a Strong Island and Rather Good Film production.

Filming will commence summer 2025 in London.

The stellar cast will be rounded out by Bobby Gilchrist, with several additional cast members to be announced shortly.

The creative team includes cinematographer Denson Baker (“The Colour Room”), costume designer Natalie Humphries (“The Day of the Jackal”), stunt coordinator Peter Pedrero (“The Expendables 4”), and production designer Damien Creagh (“Dance First”).

Tuffin has been on quite a tear of late having recently wrapped “Alphas,” starring Martin Henderson (“Virgin River”). He will be shooting “Last Meals,” starring Mads Mikkelson and Boyd Holbrook early next year.

McCann will star in the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” and previously starred in Tuffin’s “Freelance,” alongside John Cena.

Legal and business affairs for Strong Island are being handled by Jere R. Hausfater and Larry Weinberg.

K5 Intl.’s slate includes Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 & 2,” Roland Joffé’s “November 1963,” starring John Travolta, Dermont Mulroney and Mandy Patinkin, as well as “Princess,” starring Lucy Hale.
