Medialink Group Launches Japan Subsidiary

Medialink Group Limited has officially launched a new subsidiary in Japan, marking a significant expansion for the Hong Kong-based intellectual property management company.

The board of directors revealed that Medialink Japan was established on Aug. 8 this year, representing what the company calls “an important milestone” in its ongoing “go global” strategy for business development.

The new Japanese subsidiary will focus on three key areas to expand Medialink’s IP management ecosystem: pursuing merger and acquisition opportunities or strategic investments in IP-related companies in Japan, co-investing in Japanese intellectual properties, and forming strategic partnerships with Japanese IP owners and licensors.

Additionally, the subsidiary aims to enhance revenue streams by introducing a broader variety of non-Japanese IP into the Japanese market. According to the company, this expansion will strengthen competitive advantage while widening sales networks and establishing a foundation for future growth.

The company’s footprint now extends from its Hong Kong headquarters to subsidiaries in China, Taiwan, Southeast Asian countries, and now Japan.

Founded in 1994, Medialink has built its business around content distribution and brand licensing, with involvement in content production, distribution arrangements and animation product development. The Group works closely with media content licensors to distribute animation, variety shows, TV dramas, and both animated and live-action movies across the region.

The company has developed a significant digital presence through its Ani-One YouTube channels, which collectively boast more than nine million subscribers and over two billion views. The network includes Ani-One Asia, Chinese-language channel Ani-One, and localized versions for Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and India.

The company has secured exclusive distribution rights for notable titles including “Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy” and “Joran the Princess of Snow and Blood” from Nippon TV in Asia territories, and was involved in the production of films such as “One Second Champion” and “Drifting” with mm2 Entertainment, as well as handling the release of “Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle” anime film in Asian markets.

Medialink also operates its own e-commerce platform, Ani-Mall, which sells animation products and exclusive anime merchandise.
