Lior Raz (“Fauda”) and Rotem Sela (“The Baker & The Beauty”) are set to star in “Off Road,” a Netflix unscripted reality series produced by Faraway Road Productions and Keshet International.
The series follows Raz and Sela, two famous Israeli actors who are real-life best friends, across a six-part road trip across Central Asia, as they discover the landscapes of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, while challenging their relationship and their personal beliefs. The six-part series will launch globally on Netflix on July 10.
Raz, Sela and Avi Issacharoff are co-creators and executive producers on the reality series, alongside showrunner Gal Raz (“12 Steps to Love,” “The Residents”) and producer Ido Baron (“The Amazing Race”) at Baron Productions; Avi Nir at Keshet Media Group; Adi Ezroni at Faraway Road; and Keshet International’s Keren Shahar, Kelly Wright and Saar Dor. The format will be launched by Keshet International at Mipcom.
“An off-road journey has always been a dream of ours—and we couldn’t have imagined one more challenging, emotional, and unexpectedly full of laughter,” said Raz and Sela, adding that it “tested (them) in every way but also reminded (them) of the strength of our bond.”
Keshet International’s CEO Keren Shahar said, “This co-production reinforces our desire to work with great storytellers to develop, produce, and distribute fresh content in any genre and form that sparks conversations.”
The exec said she was grateful to the Netflix team “for their commitment and belief in this show, and for giving global audiences the opportunity to see the “real” sides of Lior and Rotem.”
Keshet International’s slate includes the premium history series “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World” which has pre-sold in five territories; as well as “Hitler’s Treasure Hunters” and the true crime series “Catch Me if You Can.” Aside from its partnership with Satisfaction Group, the company is also involved in original productions such as Netflix’s crime drama “Rough Diamonds,” co-produced with De Mensen.
Faraway Road Productions is the Israeli banner founded by Raz and Avi Issacharoff which has produced “Fauda” and “Hit And Run.” The company was acquired by Candle Media, the Blackstone-backed company launched by former Disney executives Tom Staggs and Kevin Mayer, in 2022.
