You’ve got someone in your life who you love and appreciate but you just don’t know what to get them for Christmas? Perhaps they’ve just got everything they need, and even a bit more. We’ve all been there. An idea hit me this week as a result of a few things, and it’s an easy last-minute option that doesn’t require going to the store (or hoping an online delivery arrives on time).
At my younger daughter’s school, I found out that teachers and teacher aides sometimes get lottery tickets as presents. Now, a one in a billion chance isn’t great, but it got me thinking that it is a different, interesting idea for a present. Better than another candle! And imagine if the teacher did win….
Well, as you know if you follow CleanTechnica closely, we’ve partnered with ISEA for years supporting its EV raffles and its solar advocacy, education, and activism. This year, it’s raffling off a Rivian. It’s still a lottery, but only 2,500 tickets are being sold, and even if you don’t win, you’re supporting solar power progress.
Rivian has also been on the mind a lot this week. The company had a big Autonomy & AI Day event. It’s training and hiring veterans in Georgia. It’s preparing for production of the R2. And, as I wrote a couple of days ago, Elon Musk’s political shenanigans and aging product lineup combined with legacy US automakers pulling back on their EV plans could be leaving a huge opening for Rivian to scale up, grow, and get profitable.
So, yeah, if you want to help someone jump on the Rivian train in the cheapest way possible (with some luck), go get them — or yourself — a raffle ticket or four. It’s $100 for one ticket or $300 for four. (And, hey, CleanTechnica would take one as well!)
