Three Months Later, a new musical comedy about survival and art, will play a three-day engagement in Los Angeles starring Kristen Bell and Lea Thompson.
The musical, created by David Wain, Jessica McKenna and Zach Reino, is set to run at the historic Jim Henson Studios for three public performances from Feb. 19 through Feb. 21, 2026, followed by a final invite-only show for industry members. The plan is then to build momentum for a full commercial stage run and for a film adaptation, which is already in development with producers Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions.
The musical follows the crash landing of a flight in the middle of nowhere, with 100 passengers gradually learning how to acquire food, water and shelter to survive. However, morale is low, which causes Maggie (played by Bell) to propose putting on a full production of Romeo & Juliet.
In addition to Bell (Nobody Wants This) and Thompson (Back to the Future), the limited engagement in February will star Camille Chen (Game Night).
Wain, McKenna and Reino are co-directing the musical and producing alongside Amirose Eisenbach (Equal Playing Field, Reefer Madness: The Musical) under her company, Radiant J. Productions.
Wain is a director of projects, including Wet Hot American Summer and Role Models. McKenna and Reino host the live improvised musical show Off Book, which is also a podcast.
Reino and McKenna wrote the score for Three Months Later, with music direction from David Lamoureux. Comedic band Wolves of Glendale (Tom McGovern, Ethan Edenburg and Eric Jackowitz) will play both the pit band as well as the narrating flight attendants.
MB Artists, Inc. will serve as General Management. Tickets will go on sale in January 2026.
