Kirk Cousins may not (yet? JK) have a Lombardi Trophy in his Michigan lake house, the Cousins-family vacation home built with a(n unprompted, hopefully) notch to hold one, but the NFL quarterback just earned the biggest honor of his career — and quite possibly, his life.
On Wednesday, Great Clips, the world’s largest (and arguably cheapest) salon brand, gave Cousins its first-ever Hall of Fade VIP Card, named after Cousins’ regular Great Clips haircut. (As The Hollywood Reporter wrote on Tuesday, it’s a No. 1 buzzer clip on the sides “and then you fade up.”)
Now, Cousins will never pay for another Great Clips haircut again — and you could even catch a stray freebie.
If you happen to be one of the lucky ones in the same Great Clips location as Cousins when the Atlanta Falcons backup whips out his one-of-a-kind card, you also get a free cut. (Please tip your stylist.) This applies across any of the 4,400-plus Great Clips locations, though your best bet is going to be in the Atlanta area.
It’s all happening thanks to Netflix’s unscripted series Quarterback season two — and possibly THR’s story — in which Cousins lauds Great Clips while getting a great pretty good haircut.
“I go to one place, and that’s Great Clips,” Cousins says to camera.
Quarterback season two debuted on Tuesday; as also demonstrated by its convenient Wait List tool, Great Clips doesn’t waste time.
All seven episodes of Quarterback season two (and season one, which also starred Cousins) are available to stream on Netflix. Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow and Detroit Lions starter Jared Goff are the other two QBs profiled in the second season. We’re pretty sure Burrow wouldn’t be caught dead in a Great Clips.
“Great Clips has become my go-to salon for a great haircut,” Cousins said in an acceptance speech a press release on Wednesday. “I can save time by using online check-in on the app and with Clip Notes, I know I’ll get the same great haircut from any stylist, every time. I’m excited for my next visit to Great Clips to unlock free haircuts for everyone in the salon!”
It’s not exactly NFL Honors but still pretty cool.
“We love hearing stories of our customers’ experiences in our Great Clips salons,” added Lisa Hake, Great Clips vp of marketing and communications. “When we heard about Kirk being a longtime brand fan and customer, we saw this as a unique opportunity to not only celebrate Kirk’s fandom but use this as a way to pay it forward with our other lucky customers getting the same great haircut experience.”
