Kevin Bacon, Ted Danson Hosting History Channel Shows

The History Channel is adding four shows — all hosted by well-known actors — to its lineup of dad-coded series.

Kevin Bacon, Ted Danson, Dolph Lundgren and Tom Selleck have all signed on to host shows for the cable network; all four will also serve as executive producers on their respective series. History made the announcement Wednesday as part of A+E Global Media’s upfront presentation for the 2026-27 season.

Along with the four above shows, History has also greenlit 102 Minutes Inside the Towers, a documentary timed to the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that will offer perspectives from survivors of the World Trade Center, with Robin Roberts executive producing; and a digital series titled Mistakes That Made America, which will explore “the surprising blunders that reshaped culture and innovation.”

Bacon, Danson, Lundgren and Selleck will join a roster of History Channel hosts that also includes Danny Trejo (Mysteries Unearthed), David Duchovny (Secrets Declassified), Dan Aykroyd (The UnBelievable), Ving Rhames (History’s Deadliest), Dennis Quaid (Holy Marvels) and Henry Winkler (Hazardous History).

The four new shows:

History’s Strange Fortunes With Kevin Bacon will recount some of the oddest financial stories in U.S. history, from a gold miner who unearthed a $1 million nugget to “an epic heist that turned a circus hypnotist into an infamous con artist.” The show comes from A+E Factual Studios in association with VaynerWATT.

Extraordinary Origins With Ted Danson delves into the back stories behind several significant inventions, discoveries and innovations that helped shape the modern world. Fulwell Entertainment produces.

History’s Greatest Machines With Dolph Lundgren, premiering June 1, will see the Rocky IV and Expendables star — who studied chemical engineering before turning to acting — exploring the impact of machines on history, including the printing press, the Model T and early personal computers. Superluna Studios produces in association with 3BMG.

Crime and Justice With Tom Selleck, which will take deep dives into some of the more consequential criminal cases in American history over its 10 episodes. The show comes from A+E Factual Studios.
