Jon Favreau’s Oswald The Lucky Rabbit Disney+ Series Casts Amy Sedaris

Jon Favreau‘s upcoming Disney+ series centered on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit has added Amy Sedaris to its cast, Variety has learned.

Sedaris is the latest addition to the show, joining young leads Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, aside from the fact that show will be an animation/live-action hybrid centered on Oswald. According to sources, Sedaris will play the mother of Allen’s character, Taylor.

The role marks the latest collaboration between Sedaris and Favreau. Sedaris previously appeared in the film “Chef,” which Favreau wrote and directed in addition to playing the lead role. Sedaris then voiced a Guinea Fowl in Favreau’s 2019 remake of “The Lion King.” In television, Sedaris has played the character Peli Motto in Favreau’s Disney+ “Star Wars” shows “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”

In addition to her works with Favreau, Sedaris is perhaps best known for starring in the cult hit comedy “Strangers with Candy,” which she co-created. Her other TV credits include “At Home with Amy Sedaris” and “BoJack Horseman,” while she has also starred in films such as “Jennifer’s Body,” “Puss in Boots,” and “Elf.” She earned two Emmy nominations for “At Home with Amy Sedaris” in the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series category.

She is repped by UTA and Schreck Rose.

Favreau serves as writer, executive producer, and director on “Oswald.” Walt Disney Studios will produce.

Oswald was created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks in 1927 for Universal Pictures. The character proved to be a major milestone for Disney, as he and Iwerks created Mickey Mouse after Universal took control of Oswald in 1928. The Walt Disney Company reacquired the rights to the character in 2006, though it entered the public domain in 2023.
