Jane Fonda, Mark Ruffalo to Perform Play in Honor of Late Manager Chris Huvane

Jane Fonda, Mark Ruffalo and Marisa Tomei will star in Tony and Obie award-winning playwright V’s new play “This is Crazy!,” to raise money for The National Alliance on Mental Illness. The one-night performance will take place at New York City’s Symphony Space on Oct. 6.

“We’re deeply grateful to V for bringing these powerful stories to the stage and for choosing Nami as the beneficiary,” said Daniel H. Gillison, Jr, Nami’s CEO.  “At Nami, we know how much storytelling can reduce stigma, inspire understanding, and create pathways to help and hope. The support from this production will strengthen our work to ensure that people affected by mental health conditions and their families get the care and community they deserve.”

Originally developed by the CAA Foundation after the death of talent manager Chris Huvane, “This is Crazy!” hopes to spark conversations about mental health and raise funds for the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization.

“Chris was adored by all who had the honor of knowing him. He was outspoken about living with and battling depression for years before he died by suicide. His experience taught us the importance of providing help and support for people and families affected by mental illness,” said Ruth-Ann Huvane in a statement. “To honor the life and legacy of Chris, my family and I are committed to supporting Nami’s mission to provide advocacy, education, support, and public awareness about mental illness. Thank you to Nami, V, and the CAA Foundation for embarking on this journey to help pay tribute to our brother Chris.”

Additional cast members for “This is Crazy!” include Sanaa Lathan, Lois Smith, Rosanna Arquette, Clarence Maclin, Rachel Hilson, Colette McDermott, Olivia Oguma, Derrick Delgado, Doireann Mac Mahon, Luke Ferrari, and Mohammad Saleem.

“This is Crazy!” will have a second performance in Los Angeles in 2026. 100% of the proceeds for the New York and Los Angeles performances will benefit Nami.

In 2024, co-CAA chairman and Chris’ brother Kevin Huvane donated $50,000 to Project Angel Food for a new delivery van in tribute to Chirs to support undermarginalized communities. “By delivering nutritious meals to those in need, they not only nourish bodies but also uplift spirits. It is an honor to support their mission in memory of my beloved brother, Chris Huvane, who was a guiding light for me and so many others,” said Huvane.
