Israeli air force attacks Iranian missile sites


Oil and gold prices jumped on Monday morning after Israel and Iran traded missile strikes over the weekend, escalating the conflict and threatening to further disrupt global energy markets. 

Brent crude futures, the international oil benchmark, climbed 2.1 per cent to $75.77 a barrel. Prices for West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark, rose 2 per cent to $74.46 a barrel. 

Gold rose 0.5 per cent to $3,446 per troy ounce, close to its record high. Prices for bullion rose past $3,500 during intraday trading in mid-April.
