“Will you come to my cottage this summer? It’s so private. No one will know.”
The love shack featured in the final episode of “Heated Rivalry,” and the focus of the series’ most memable quote, will officially be available to rent on Airbnb starting March 3. The six-room Barlochan Cottage is located in Torrence, Canada, featuring nearly 400 feet of private waterfront to enjoy the area’s famous Muskoka sunsets.
The rental features a sandy shallow-entry beach, rocky shoreline, north-west exposure for sunset views, and multiple outdoor seating areas for lounging, dining and fireside nights. Inside, the open-concept layout includes soaring ceilings, a bright kitchen with island seating, a dining area for eight, two fireplaces, a glassy Muskoka room, a rec room with theater chairs and TV and an exercise room with overflow sleeping. With three queen bedrooms, three bathrooms, kayaks, canoes, a fire pit and boating access to Muskoka’s “Big 3” lakes, Barlochan is advertised as an ideal waterfront getaway for families or groups looking for comfort and, yes, privacy.
The cottage becomes one of the the show’s most important emotional settings, especially in the finale, where Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Conor Storrie) retreat there and confront the future of their relationship away from the pressure of hockey and public scrutiny. The show positions it as Shane’s secluded summer refuge near Montreal, but the real filming location is in Muskoka, Ontario.
Airbnb has increasingly leaned into entertainment tie-ins, most notably with its 2024 launch of Airbnb Icons, a category built around immersive pop-culture experiences that let guests “step into” film, TV and celebrity worlds, including the floating “Up” house, the “X-Men” ’97 mansion and Prince’s Purple Rain house. Airbnb tested this strategy before this with viral stunt listings like the Barbie Malibu DreamHouse (revived in 2023 to coincide with the movie release) and properties like the “Twilight” Swan House in Oregon.
