Dan Levy’s Not a Real Production Company Hires Anne-Marie McGintee


Dan Levy‘s production company, called Not a Real Production Company, has tapped Anne-Marie McGintee as head of film and television.

McGintee, who was most recently the vice president of scripted programming at Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks, will now oversee all development and production for Not a Real Production Company, working to expand the company’s slate through its overall deal with Netflix.

The company’s upcoming programming includes the recently announced (and yet-to-be-titled) crime comedy series starring Levy, Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf, as well as an upcoming documentary about the 1990s music festival Lilith Fair, which is set to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival. Not a Real Production Company’s first series was “The Big Brunch” on Max, and it also backed Levy’s directorial debut “Good Grief.”

Additionally, Rachel Fanning, who was hired in 2022 upon the founding of Not a Real Production Company, has been promoted to development executive. She will continue to work closely with Levy and McGintee, managing all aspects of project development and production.

At Array, McGintee oversaw development and production of projects like “DMZ,” “Naomi” and “Queen Sugar.” Before tha, she was an executive on the original series team at Netflix, where she managed overall deals with Jenji Kohan, Sugar23 and Tribeca Productions, and worked on series like “Orange Is the New Black,” “Maid,” “Colin in Black & White” and “Tales of the City.”

“Anne-Marie brings an exciting new energy to NARPC through her vast experience overseeing creative development, production, and programming across both TV and film projects,” said Levy in a statement. “From the upcoming Lilith Fair documentary to our new Netflix series, she has been pivotal in the company’s strong and steady expansion as we continue to build a dynamic slate of thoughtful, singular projects. We’re lucky to have her and look forward to all that’s ahead.”

McGintee added: “Dan Levy is a singular talent and one of the most exciting artists working in the industry. He created one of the most iconic and beloved television shows of the last decade and I am thrilled for the opportunity to build on that legacy and embark on this next chapter with him.”
